[Discord] <ragesquid> hi there, I tried searching github issues and this discord but I can't seem to find any mention of this issue.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <ragesquid> when I run `armbian-config` it takes several minutes for "Initializaing script" to complete, like 2+ minutes, I didn't realize it was even working until I forgot that I had ran the command and looked at the window later. I'm not sure when this started, but I know it was working a few weeks ago before I ran `armbian-update` a few times since then.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <ragesquid> I'm running on a rock 5b+, Armbian 25.8.1, and just did another update to the latest kernal/tools about 20 minutes ago.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <ragesquid> Is there something obvious I'm missing to debug this?
<gmorell>
I'm curious the steps you took to get this edge kernel setup working, every time i've used armbian-config to set it to the same version of armbian I'm on I end up with a rock5b+ that won't boot and has a solid blue led

[Discord] <random_anon_cesar> Just curious, but what is the current kernel installed on your Rock5B+ when it’s working?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <random_anon_cesar> If it’s the vendor 6.1 kernel, you often cannot upgrade to a mainline kernel (6.12, 6.16 etc)
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <random_anon_cesar> To my knowledge (not an Armbian developer) the edge kernel upgrades via Armbian-config only work if you’re board is already using one of the mainline kernels
<gmorell>
Ah that's good to know, it's the 6.1.115-VENDOR
<gmorell>
so if I were to reflash the board with one of the images under "Bleeding edge images with Armbian Linux v6.14" on https://www.armbian.com/rock-5b-plus/
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <random_anon_cesar> Yep. Flashing one of the premade 6.14 images should be fine to upgrade to 6.16
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <random_anon_cesar> You can also compile a custom Armbian image that already has 6.16 if you use Armbian Build
