[Discord] <shouharuka> hi, hope this is the right place to ask, i'm attempting a headless install of the server version of armbian linux 6.12 for the orange pi zero 2w, but after imaging the sd card (after editing /root/.not\_logged\_in\_yet https://pastebin.com/KHqjZBVn - i've tried both with and without specifing static ip) and trying to boot from it it doesn't appear as a device with open ports on a <clipped message>
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <shouharuka> ngry scanner so i can't seem to ssh into it
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <shouharuka> the logs (that i can find) are pretty uninformative, seems like its booting and installing okay; seems like online some people say to manually add the wifi credentials to something in /etc/netplan, but i can only find a 00-default-use-network-manager (do i add it to that?)

[Discord] <shouharuka> is it an issue with it not being able to boot from the sd? that's what i'm suspecting since i can't find any new logs in the sd
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> Have you tried without modifying at all?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <shouharuka> as in the original armbian image without the first boot config? i can try
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> Yes
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <Werner> In any case or debugging boot issues: #❓first-aid
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> @shouharuka I tried the same thing, turns out it didn't create the SSH keys so it wouldn't start sshd. I had to plug in a monitor and keyboard and generate manually then it worked.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> And also some dot files were empty in my home directory which I had to populate manually
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <shouharuka> :/ darn
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <shouharuka> do you happen to know which
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> .zshrc I think it was
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> Can't remember the other one sorry
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <shouharuka> apparently someone on the opi side mentioned some issues can be caused specifically by not using a sandisk sd so i might try to just try using a spare one and seeing if it fixes anything cus the light thats supposed to blink when the kernel gets loaded doesnt blink
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <shouharuka> nw
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> Nar, I'm using Samsung Evo high end SD cards
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> Sorry, hang on. SanDisk extreme
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <shouharuka> im using samsung pro sd cards yea lol but apparently its been noted that it specifically happens when people use non sandisk which is a bit weird
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> All my SD cards (3) are SanDisk..
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <shouharuka> ah yeah i meant like booting issues cus im pretty sure its not even booting for me haha
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> It's a hard thing to debug
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> To know what's failing
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> You can start with a monitor and keyboard, but if it's not booting you need UART
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gambl0r> I just fixed it and moved on and noted to myself not to use that feature in the future

[Discord] <ladledealmaker> Hi, if I edit device tree through armbian-config, is there a fallback mechanism in case it would not boot?

ladledealmaker: that I know of? only to stick the SD card into a PC [that can read the filesystem] and edit the /boot/armbianEnv.txt
