# arnd: Looks like the first large-on-chip-RAM arm64 Soc has arrived: RZ/A3M. XIP anyone? ;-)
Peng_Fan has joined #armlinux
<maz>
128M? that's plenty! :)
<geertu>
maz: It depends. Debian/armhf nfsroot no longer boots into a usable state with 32 MiB of RAM. The 64 MiB board still does, so I expect to do x2 for arm64...
<maz>
geertu: yeah, I wasn't thinking Debian (you definitely need more than 64MB for that on arm64). but more cut-down userspace should work.
<krzk>
abelvesa_: Did you drop broken imx8mm patches from mailing list? broonie is still reporting boot failures
<krzk>
s/mailing list/linux-next/
<broonie>
No, and the patch that you're complaining about is the result of me chasing that boot has been broken for a couple of weeks. :(
<krzk>
broonie: thanks, then kind reminder to abelvesa_ that except asking Stephen to drop pull request, you should reset --hard your for-next branch

<ukleinek>
robher, conchuod, krzk: Is it intended to remove bindings because the linux support was dropped, or can/should the binding just be kept?
<conchuod>
If there exist users elsewhere, it should be kept IMO.
<conchuod>
e.g. busybox or u-boot
<conchuod>
meh, not busybox, the bootloader from your former employer
<conchuod>
I forget the name of it.
<robher>
ukleinek: It is a judgement call. I think I already took some other parts of this being removed. Given all arch support is removed, made sense to me.
<robher>
barebox?

<CounterPillow>
Seems strange to me to even make Linux support being dropped a part of the consideration, considering how device tree is kernel agnostic, which is definitely true and not wishful thinking. ;>
