<emmett1> farkuhar: i already push updates for my crux-musl repo
<emmett1> btw theres a few ports like mdadm, reisefs-progs and jfsutils i'm taken from your repo
<farkuhar> emmett1: heh, some of those ports I don't even use. But thanks for sharing your updates; I hope by consulting them I'll finally resolve the libclang dynamic loading problem during the firefox build.
<emmett1> farkuhar: yeah i dont use too, but since you have it and it works, i will juat take yours ;p
<emmett1> btw you should try my firefox's ports, maybe it compiled for you
<farkuhar> emmett1: yes, it looks like the crucial differences between your firefox port and the one in contrib are MACH_BUILD_PYTHON_NATIVE_PACKAGE_SOURCE=none, and not defining libclang-path in mozconfig. I seem to be getting a successful build, even using my existing packages for {llvm, clang, rust}.
<farkuhar> Or at least, if the build is going to fail, it won't be because of the gecko-profiler target and libclang dynamic loading. I'll learn the result in about an hour, if previous build times are a good predictor of this one.
<farkuhar> Now you've got me curious about the behaviour of python3-pip versus other python3 package managers. Yesterday zorz reported a footprint mismatch for contrib/glad, where the LICENSE file was installed into a different directory than what the port maintainer got.
<farkuhar> https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/python/index.html#id2 is a good reference for how to control the third-party python dependencies during the build.
<farkuhar> emmett1: firefox successfully built, after incorporating changes from your port. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
<SiFuh_> And what ever URL you want to add

<SiFuh_> /m chanserv deop #crux-musl farkuhar
<SiFuh_> When you are pleased with your results :-P
<SiFuh_> I already notifed Distro Watch
<SiFuh_> But I didn't inform them of a MUSL version
<farkuhar> I should have suspected the release was imminent, when cruxbot started spamming the channel with commit messages for the 3.8 branch. Earlier today that wasn't happening, so zorz might have missed the initial commit of contrib/brightnessctl if he wasn't tracking closely the git repo.
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: zorz_ isn't a very good reader. Words linger than 4 characters confuse him. Hahaha
<SiFuh_> longer*
<SiFuh_> I told emmett1 I won't be doing much for a week maybe two. But I think I will need to start making a crux-musl repo for you all to poach from.
<farkuhar> Is that why you spelled zorz with the extra underscore character? To cross the threshold into word lengths that are likely to confuse him?
<SiFuh_> Yeah
<SiFuh_> So you see somethings siliar to me :-P This annoying ChatGPT referred to Batman the Animated Series at BTAS. I said Batman - Animated: The Series (BATS) would be way cooler.
<SiFuh_> similar*
<farkuhar> dlcusa: "How far back does Per CRUX (pronounced pure) need to be forked from what CRUX has become?" I don't have a long enough involvement in the project to know the details of the various releases dating back to the frinnst era, sorry.
<SiFuh_> dlcusa: prt-get didn't even exist. But as far as I remember back in the 0.9.3 days they had sudo in core.
<SiFuh_> dlcusa, you can check out here -> https://web.archive.org/web/20020121142803/http://crux.nu/
<SiFuh_> And that
<SiFuh_> dlcusa: https://ftp.spline.inf.fu-berlin.de/pub/crux/crux-0.9.2/iso/ You could download the 0.9.2 ISO and peruse the contents as well.
<SiFuh_> In Australia I might have the 0.9.1 laying around as well. But it probably won't work these days.
<SiFuh_> 196M was a decent size. 1.75G is a bit over the top now.
