<L0Wigh> Installation done (kinda), I had issues with kiss-xorg repo and it's mesa version. I had to rollback to previous build process
<kris_> this may be the messiest package ive ever seen
<L0Wigh> too much deps...
<kris_> i mean its not that its too many really its that its just hard to build
<kris_> go, rust, node all for 1 vpn client is fucking crazy
<kris_> shame too because it's the only way to get some of their cooler features like daita
<L0Wigh> I hate that kind of product
<kris_> i guess it makes sense in this context but they seem to have hit all of the hype languages just to do so
<kris_> i dont get why they wouldnt just use qt instead of doing the frontend with node
<L0Wigh> because there is more soydevs that only know web coding than devs that can do "classical" coding
<L0Wigh> I have nothing against web langages, I just hate when it's becoming the default way to code desktop apps
<kris_> eh you may be right
<kris_> i don't know, i'm just frustrated because of course they dont have builds already done for musl
<L0Wigh> well, musl seems like a dream that will not come soon
<L0Wigh> wayland will be fully ready before musl is fully adopted
<kris_> idk, this is the only thing i use that warrants glibc
<kris_> and ive been daily driving wayland for 5 years at least lol, havent used xorg since
<kris_> i have a handful of glibc installs around but it's not many, just my laptop and local server because i was having some weird bugginess with qemu on musl
<L0Wigh> I did used wayland like 3-4 years ago, everyone was trashtalking it. Now that I switched back to X11, everyone is jumping on the wayland boat x)
<kris_> i was on wayland as soon as i possibly could because xorg is just absolutely unusable
<kris_> at least when you get to having spicy display setups
<L0Wigh> I'm using simple setups (mostly one or two screens on laptops) and I feel like X11 is lighter than most wayland compositors
<kris_> it's not
<L0Wigh> it's probably not
<L0Wigh> but my current setup is working really good for me
<kris_> idk my thing here is that i have a 240hz primary display and 60hz secondary and this type of setup is problematic with xorg
<kris_> and i'm not going to go buy another 240hz display so they match just so i can use xorg and still have issues with screen tearing, latency, etc
<L0Wigh> X11 is taking 12MB and my WM is taking 812KB
<kris_> i dont really have a measurement of that
<L0Wigh> That's way way less than what Hyprland, Sway, Niri are taking
<kris_> eh hyprland is disgusting
<kris_> ive been pretty much just sticking to sway when i'm not using gnome
<L0Wigh> I HATE Hyprland
<kris_> i mostly find it problematic because the lead dev is a moron
<L0Wigh> and I HATE the dev even more
<kris_> not even just socially he's just actually a bad developer
<L0Wigh> yeah he is a pain to work with
<kris_> and honestly every person i know who daily drives hyprland complains quite literally every time there's an update that "fuck my WM is broken again"
<L0Wigh> yeah that's right ! saw the same thing
<kris_> i may try daily driving oksh again
<L0Wigh> what kind of shell is that ?
<kris_> it's openbsds korn shell but portable
<L0Wigh> what's the key differences between this and bash/zsh ?
<kris_> really just lighter weight and closer to posix conformance
<L0Wigh> oh ok nice, I might look at it
