<asimov>
flatpak never worked great on kiss for me
<asimov>
like firefox and stuff never get screencasting and i dont know why
fultilt has joined #kisslinux

<midfavila>
time to go find out what's behind the shedd
<midfavila>
sure as shit ain't chromium
<midfavila>
smdh
<midfavila>
how could you betray us like this sewn
<sewn>
whats wrong
<midfavila>
chromium isn't exactly "kiss" :P
<sewn>
the modern web isn't "kiss" either, mid
<midfavila>
dont use it
<midfavila>
ez
<sewn>
unfortunately, this wont work for me
<midfavila>
but thou must
<midfavila>
reminds me, i wonder if suckless ever seriously looking at retooling surf to use links
<sewn>
why would they
<midfavila>
i know it's on their website as an idea
<midfavila>
because webkit is awful
<midfavila>
lmao
<midfavila>
links has its issues but it's the only browser i legitimately like atm
<midfavila>
ofc it could be better but perfection is the journey, not the destination
<sewn>
you should look into chawan :3
<thomas_adam>
It's a shame -- there was a narrow period of time where elinks, and "links -g" almost had their place. I had a decent remit with elinks: https://xteddy.org/elinks/ -- alas, such things are no longer possible.
<midfavila>
there's a lot of situations where links under X is meh but it's also surprisingly useful
<midfavila>
esp with the rise of frontends like invidious
<thomas_adam>
Even chawan doesn't cut it.
<sewn>
hey what chawan is nice
<midfavila>
the only chawan i know is the tea bowl
<midfavila>
oh huh
<midfavila>
it's written in nim
<midfavila>
that's interesting
<midfavila>
sixel is clever if a bit of a kludge but i definitely appreciate it
<midfavila>
hmm
<midfavila>
maybe worth studyin
<sewn>
meow
<midfavila>
studying*
<midfavila>
fuck i want my desktop to get here so I can start tinkering with tech stuff again
<sewn>
what are you on right now then
<midfavila>
my reform, which has no mass storage device, lmao
<midfavila>
everything is running off the onboard emmc
<midfavila>
basically no available space
<sewn>
how much
<midfavila>
rn i have about 200mb
<sewn>
what the fuc
<midfavila>
which i guess is technically enough
<midfavila>
oh wait unless you meant total
<sewn>
total yes
<midfavila>
in which case i think it's around eight?
<sewn>
8mb???
<midfavila>
just checked, it's ~12GB total
<sewn>
ah
<midfavila>
i misremembered
<sewn>
thats plenty
<midfavila>
yeah but also >debian
<midfavila>
and i'm too lazy to actually trim it down lol
<midfavila>
i could probably tinker on the main sdf cluster
<midfavila>
but yeah adding gopher support and futzing about with the TLS support to use libtls instead of open/libressl would be amazing...
<thomas_adam>
One of the things Omar and I had with the telescope-browser (for Gemini) was to expand it to support HTTP.
<midfavila>
telescope seems nice
<thomas_adam>
WEll, I use it a lot, so I'm biased. :)
<midfavila>
fair
<midfavila>
i'm the same way towards links
<midfavila>
i think it's been my main browser for like five years now
<midfavila>
so i've got everything set up nice and neat = w=
<thomas_adam>
Does links support Gemini?
<midfavila>
no, but i don't see why it couldn't
<thomas_adam>
Sure -- I was asking whether anyone's patched links to support it.
<midfavila>
they might have, i've never looked
<midfavila>
i don't really use gemini tbh with you
<midfavila>
i don't know how it happened but somehow i've convinced a bunch of people to form a municipal political party in my city which never happens in canada
<midfavila>
obvs not going to abolish property laws over night but it's something
<midfavila>
ward councilor today, prime minister tomorrow, and then...
<midfavila>
then... i shall enact my evil dictatorial plan to guarantee everyone their basic rights unconditionally
<midfavila>
muahaha
<midfavila>
and also abolish intellectual property in the process ofc
