<kris_>
successfully touched grass today
<midfavila>
gj kris
* midfavila
applies headpats to the kris_
<midfavila>
how was the grass
<kris_>
expected it to suck
<kris_>
i went to new student orientation @ my uni today
<midfavila>
nice
<kris_>
so basically when i got there they had us like
<midfavila>
hopefully that went well
<kris_>
they gave us a bunch of random items and we got to pick between different colors of a specific item
<kris_>
turns out the color we chose was used to split us into groups to go look around and stuff
<kris_>
of course, i choose black
<kris_>
and there's a global phenomenon where metalheads will naturally group up and get along
<kris_>
and also tend to prefer black
<kris_>
ended up meeting friends
<midfavila>
>people with similar interests self-organise into mutually agreeable communities
<midfavila>
SOCIETY
<kris_>
im just shocked that the color of propaganda i chose completely gauged the course of the day
<kris_>
kind of big brain ngl different people are inclined to pick different colors
<midfavila>
wait until you learn that the videogames you play determine which wars you support
<kris_>
>gonna say something about the fact that i play call of duty
<midfavila>
call of duty is literally, not figuratively, US Army and DoD agitprop
<midfavila>
so
<kris_>
i'm aware
<kris_>
but i don't play the story thing
<midfavila>
:P
<kris_>
i just hop on for like 9v9 multiplayer
<kris_>
where you just shoot at eachother and that's the end of it
<kris_>
but yeah i ended up meeting very similar people
<kris_>
music tastes and even games
* midfavila
nod-nods
<kris_>
we spent most of the day talking about psychological horror games
<kris_>
point is, i went into this knowing for a fact that i was going to speak as little as possible and just autopilot
<kris_>
ended up being chill
<midfavila>
fair
<kris_>
and the vibes of the uni itself are really cool
<kris_>
i don't consider myself LGBT (complex discussion there) but they put a lot of effort into making sure people understood that they're in a safe environment
<kris_>
that just says a lot to me given the current climate in my country
<midfavila>
yeap
<kris_>
midfavila: also, i play iw4x
<kris_>
funny thing around that, it's a mod for the OG call of duty modern warfare 2
<kris_>
basically all call of duties pre 2019 have a ton of RCEs, if you go online you're guaranteed to have someone full blown remoting into your machine
<kris_>
iw4x fixes these and >activision sent them a cease and desist
<kris_>
luckily it seems to be back though, they can't really kill it given it's GPL
<kris_>
people just have the source
<midfavila>
eh.
<kris_>
im only mentioning this because it's wild to me that it's even legal for companies to C&D someone for fixing RCEs in their game that they refuse to update
<midfavila>
yeah welcome to capitalism.
<midfavila>
and like, intellectual property and shit.
<midfavila>
many such cases.
<midfavila>
wait until you find out that people can sell the place you live in and kick you out with basically no notice and no reason other than money.
