i know that the in-house drivers are supposed to be higher performance, but man, nouveau just feels /snappy/ in a way that nvidia didn't

i made sure to get a first-gen kepler since that's the latest discrete desktop gpu you can run without proprietary blobs, so maybe they're just benefiting from ages of work by the nouveau folks...

quadro k1200 is a fantastic little workstation card if you aren't doing gpu intensive stuff

i'm hoping those new cards from china end up being well supported

even if they aren't as powerful as nvidia or amd's models, being lower cost and having more robust software is a huge selling point

i think linux is also pretty big in china compared to western aligned countries so maybe that could play a part in things...

im kinda itching to see how much this improves emacs startup time, it was around 250ms on my desktop before
