<adamgreig[m]>
well, I think for now I'm giving up on an alternative to the cortex-m-macros cfg_asm, if anyone wants a little macro-rules challenge and wants to give it a go please do, otherwise I think let's just ship it in a few days. I'll check over the other changes in the meantime

the challenge is to replace cfg_asm with some kind of macro by example which allows keeping a no-op (or unimplemented!()) function for each of our functions that just runs arm assembly while building on non-cortex-m platforms. I had a few goes at a cortex_m_asm!(...) macro that you use instead of asm!() which comments out the actual assembly for example but ran into some annoying issues where specific register specifiers like
