<f_> I'll wait for more reviews for site!3 then if no one has any objections I think I'll merge it
<Wayback> site!3 content/news: 0.2 announcement (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayback/wayback.freedesktop.org/-/merge_requests/3) [opened]

<axtlos> added a small suggestion for the gentoo package, otherwise its looks good to me
<f_> oh I'm not familiar with gentoo lol
<f_> It's great that someone other than me is
<f_> axtlos: does this look good now?
<axtlos> yep its good now
<f_> awesome!

<Achill[m]> tbh i dont think a seperate blog entry is necessary, its a tiny release
<f_> It's good to showcase the progress we've done, even if tiny
<f_> IMO

<anabelae[m]> I share that opinion. I think it’s especially important when a project is in its infancy
<f_> Yep I believe it matters especially in this case

<zizban[m]> I think someplace like OSNews would love to hear about the new, if small, release.
<dramforever[m]1> 0.2 existing is entirely my "fault" anyway
<dramforever[m]1> otherwise as was discussed here it should have been ~monthly
<zizban[m]> well, someone has to take the fall 🤪

<f_> okay so I think I'll merge it now
<f_> any more things I need to adjust?
<f_> merging

<f_> the page is not live yet, it's waiting to be picked by a runner
<f_> that that will be the link
<f_> seems to take its time...
<zizban[m]> awesome
<bigmac> f_: I figured that instead of modifying the global xorg dpi of 96, it would be better to apply a scale that the xwayland client can use. It should be more reliable than the dpi handling xorg does, at least from my testing. Currently using wlr_output_state_set_scale to set it, but need to figure out how to actually calculate the right scale. It shouldn't be that compilcated assuming the dpi of 96
<bigmac> will not be overwriten
<axtlos> since we aim for full Xorg compatibility it (sadly) doesn't really matter if theres a better way to do it, it should still be done by setting the global xorg dpi

<bigmac> Does rendering the xwayland client scaled up break this compatibility?
Consolatis[m]1 has joined #wayback
<Consolatis[m]1> without using -hidpi for Xwayland it just makes everything blurry and may lower performance
<axtlos> yeah wayland scaling isnt the same as xorg scaling
<axtlos> it behaves differently
<axtlos> we could have an option for both, but the default should definetly be having it xorg dpi
<Consolatis[m]1> i think wayback shouldn't even have it in the first place and leave it to the X11 environment to set it just as on X11
__0x1eaf has joined #wayback
<bigmac> Aha, well I experimented with it beyond the dpi flag, because after setting any other dpi than the default some things just looked very wrong. However when changing the scale of the output, the dpi is still read as 96, but the resolution changes, which is probably not wanted

<f_> bigmac: I just tested with IceWM and yep it seems some don't follow -dpi
<zizban[m]> I always found Xorg -dpi unreliable.
