<Jester01> Hi! Is there a trick to check signal strength and quality without playing a stream? I have looked at the mux page in the web interface but could not find anything. I can start watching something and then check the status page just wondering if there is something more convenient because I will be taking my phone up to the roof :)
<Jester01> I also know about dvb-zap
<Jester01> which is more useful from a phone ssh
<htsbot> [slack] <Flole> Mux scheduler or recording, not sure if one of those might be what you want
<htsbot> [slack] <Flole> To be honest: I wouldn't use tvheadend to setup or fine-tune a satellite dish, that's not really what it's designed for. Use something which has a graph to show the historic signal strength/quality, then you can turn it and see if it's getting better or worse and find the sweet spot

<Jester01> used dvb-zap it says UCB 0 which I think should be the uncorrected blocks but I could not get the postBER lower than a couple of thousand
<Jester01> tvh shows errors 0 as well but data errors (transport errors) is not zero and I get some visual glitches
<htsbot> [slack] <Flole> Something is not right then
<Jester01> not sure what happened it has been working for a few years
<htsbot> [slack] <Flole> Maybe the cable is broken or the LNB is dead
<htsbot> [slack] <Flole> Or if you are using a power supply for your card or for a multiswitch the power supply could be failing
<Jester01> using external USB receiver, the antenna is not powered and not amplified
<Jester01> could be the cable
<htsbot> [slack] <Flole> Oh I thought you were talking about a satellite dish
<Jester01> no it's dvb-t
<Jester01> terrestrial
<Jester01> sorry forgot to specify :)
<htsbot> [slack] <Flole> And you tried to mount the antenna in different locations? What kind of antenna is it? A small indoor antenna or one of those huge outdoor antennas?
<Jester01> it's been working for a few years and nothing has been built in the line of sight ... just tried to adjust the direction but I could only get it better but not perfect
<Jester01> it's a big one
<Jester01> the cable would make the most sense, thanks. will try to check that tomorrow
