<Schrostfutz> Hi, I run libreelec on an RPi5 and on every other boot I do not get a DHCP lease, just a link-local address. Reconnecting the wifi oder rebooting the device resolves the issue, however that is tedious. How can I solve this?
<minimal> investigate why your DHCP server is not providing a lease?
<Schrostfutz> I don't think the DHCP server is at fault
<Schrostfutz> The connman logs don't indicate any missing lease, so I'm wondering whether it's a client issue
<minimal> assuming the DHCP client asked for a lease then it is up to the DHCP server to provide a lease
<minimal> you said "I do not get a lease" and by that assumed that a lease was actually requested - and so the DHCP server(s) are responsible for provided the lease
<minimal> if a lease is not actually being requested that's a different matter but your initial problem description did not indicate so
<Schrostfutz> minimal: Yeah, my phrasing was misleading here. I changed the settings for the interface from `auto` to `dhcp`, so far that has been working. The problem with these random issues is that you can never be sure whether you've fixed it..
<minimal> well if you cannot now reproduce the problem then I don't see how anyone can help investigate it...
<Schrostfutz> minimal: Not looking for that, just sharing my worries that I may not have solved it after all :)

<minimal> what is your purpose in sharing your "worries" if you're not interested in getting an alleged problem resolved?
<minimal> you're sharing in the hope of worrying other people? lol
