<mmichelson>
Hi everybody. It's time to begin the weekly OVN developers' meeting.
<dceara>
Hi!
<mmichelson>
I usually go first, but I don't want to today. Who would like to do the honors by giving the first update?
<dceara>
mmichelson, I wonder if it's only the two of us today. :) In any case I can share.
<mmichelson>
go for it dceara
amusil has joined #openvswitch
zhouhan has joined #openvswitch
<dceara>
My one line update is that I presented an initial plan for adding BGP+EVPN support to OVN in 25.09 during the technical meeting on Monday. The recording and a summary of the rest of the discussion is already on list.
<amusil>
Hi, I'm late
<mmichelson>
Hi late, I'm Mark.
<dceara>
LOL
<amusil>
I see how it is :D
<mmichelson>
Thanks dceara. Who would like to give the next update?
<amusil>
I can I suppose
<mmichelson>
go for it amusil
<amusil>
We had some CI issues due to GH putting wrong entries into /etc/hosts, that should be fixed now and hopefully permanently
<amusil>
Other than that I have posted series for handling ACLs incrementally (mostly)
<amusil>
That's about it, thanks
<mmichelson>
Cool! I'll have to look at that ACL patch when I get a chance.
<mmichelson>
I can go next.
<mmichelson>
I've been working on refactoring logical flow syncing.
<mmichelson>
Unlike with port bindings, this can be done incrementally with small-ish patches, rather than having to do the whole thing in one giant patch.
<mmichelson>
It's actually been...fun?
<mmichelson>
But it's also slow work because it seems like every idea I have results in having to do a few prerequisite patches to get the idea completed, and inevitably the code crashes from some dumb mistake/assumption I make with each commit.
<mmichelson>
So it's coming along, but it'll probably be a couple weeks before I can post it.
<mmichelson>
And once the logical flow sync refactor is done, I can focus on trying to actually implement the northbound side of a composable service.

<mmichelson>
The ovn-controller side will need some tweaking as well, but my hope is that it will be much smaller.
imaximets_ is now known as imaximets
<mmichelson>
That's all from me.
<mmichelson>
Who wants to go next?
<dceara>
mmichelson, that sounds like a lot of good work happening, looking forward to composable services!
<zhouhan>
Or I should say the HW offload issue that the ct-commit-all was trying to solve
<zhouhan>
In short, this path doesn't look very promising to me, so asking for opinions. Sorry for the long email. Please read :)
<zhouhan>
That's it from me
<mmichelson>
Thanks zhouhan
<dceara>
zhouhan, I see it in my inbox now, I'll try to reply tomorrow.
<zhouhan>
dceara: thank you
<mmichelson>
Does anyone else wish to give an update?
<imaximets>
May I?
<mmichelson>
sure you can imaximets
<imaximets>
Not much from me, trying to get back to reviews. Working on the fix for the classifier crash that Numan reported, uncovered by enabling more prefixes from OVN side.
<imaximets>
Hope to post a fix by the end of this week.
<imaximets>
That's it.
<mmichelson>
Thanks imaximets
<mmichelson>
anyone else?
<mmichelson>
I think that's everyone. Thanks, and have a great day.
<imaximets>
Thanks! Bye.
<mmichelson>
Bye
<dceara>
Thanks, bye!
<amusil>
