<blubber> Does anybody know how to run irb in a non-VT100 terminal such as Emacs's shell? In Emacs shell, it has glitchy output due to the ansi codes
<kjetilho> works fine for me, with TERM=dumb
<blubber> Hmm that did not change it for me, but it looks like doing `irb --inf-ruby-mode' works perfectly, so I will just do that :)
<kjetilho> I just did M-x shell for this test
graaff has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<blubber> I am running on windows unfortunately, maybe it's just a glitch in that version
<blubber> cygwin + emacs

<mikko> NO_COLOR=1 should also work but if TERM=dumb didn't do the trick then that probably doesn't either
jankasi has quit [Quit: jankasi]
<blubber> Indeed that did not work. Here's what the output of puts 'hi' looks like: irb(main):002:0> p:::::::::::::::::: irb(main):002:0> pupppppppp irb(main):002:0> putpp irb(main):002:0> putsirb(main):002:0> puts irb(main):002:0> puts 'irb(main):002:0> puts 'hirb(main):002:0> puts 'hiirb(main):002:0> puts 'hi'hi

<Hammdist> how I can write a simple web server in ruby (especially now that webrick is deprecated/gone)?
<Hammdist> most langs deliver a HTTP/URL/Cookie parser and all one has to do is write the endpoint implementations
<Hammdist> does ruby have anything like that nowadays?
<Hammdist> of course, I want to use only stdlib, don't make me include gems

<testone> Hammdist: I didn't know webrick got abandoned
<testone> it seems the fact that I sometimes use "ruby -run -ehttpd . -p8080" it means that last time I used it, it was years ago :-\
<testone> it seems that adsf used webrick as well...
