azonenberg changed the topic of #scopehal to: ngscopeclient, libscopehal, and libscopeprotocols development and testing | https://github.com/ngscopeclient/scopehal-apps | Logs: https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/scopehal
<dingwat> azonenberg: ok, thanks for the direction there, will try it out. I would certainly like to generalize it further in the future, e.g. sweeping a supply voltage and plotting frequency measurements as a function of voltage, or sweeping a load current and plotting voltage ripple measurements. It would definitely motivate me to add support for the various meters/supplies/loads I have access to
* dingwat screams into the void
<dingwat> why do I still try to build on Windows

<dingwat> azonenberg: forgive me, this feels like a phenomenally dumb question, but if I hit "Restart" on the ScalarStairstep filter, I should see the "data" pin start stepping, right?
<azonenberg> dingwat: you need to have the filter graph running, hit the trigger button?
<azonenberg> if you hit stop it freezes everything including any waveform generation filters
<azonenberg> (the docs for these features have definitely not caught up with capabilities yet)

<ablu> azonenberg: Thanks! Will check it out.
<azonenberg> ablu: the important bit is you need to bump the version number on the waveform object
<azonenberg> so filters know that the input has changed and it'll refresh properly as new dat acomes in
<azonenberg> essentially you just add to the existing waveform object in AcquireData instead of overwriting it
<azonenberg> and i think it might require some magic for history to work right but i would have to check the code to remember the specifics
<ablu> azonenberg: Yeah it looks straightforward enough. I assumed I would have to keep adding things in "Acquire". But it looks like it Acquires in small blocks and then does the append in "PopPendingWaveform".
<azonenberg> ah i remember... yeah the idea is to maximize parallelism

<dingwat> azonenberg: that was it, but I am still a little confused. https://i.imgur.com/S2sww2A.png
<dingwat> I see a pulse when the stairstep changes, and I can delay that pulse, but regardless of whether I gate the XY sweep or not, I don't get any plot on the XY sweep output

<dingwat> ugh. This Prologix clone is causing me endless problems. Anyone got a recommendation for the cheapest IEEE4888 to USB adapter I can buy that works?
<dingwat> $40 NI GPIB-USB-HS clone from China? Or $50 GPIB-USB-HS clone from US? Or $120 Agilent 82357B clone from China?
