<khem>
RP: yeah took me a long time to arrive at the patch, performance looks to be not regressing so should be ok
<khem>
although I think there are some differences we have when cross compiling perl vs natively compiling it, that might be reason why we only see it on target perl and not elsewhere and other distros dont either.
<khem>
one of these days it will be good to compare configure results of perl and perl-native perhaps and see if some configure tests during cross compile are fsiling wrongly

just playing a bit with tpm and systemd-cryptenroll, I have the encrypted storage working, but it still asks for password entry during boot. It seems that the systemd mechanism doesn't kick in, or not early enough. any pointers or experience with that?
<LetoThe2nd>
mcfrisk: that's a possible second step, currently I create the encrypted partition manually and want to just unlock it upon boot, but systemds mechanism doesn't seem to kick in.
<mcfrisk>
partition autodetection, or /etc/fstab not uptodate? I used autodetection with GUID/UUID
<mcfrisk>
and/or /etc/crypttab

I'm trying to install chronyc through the chrony recipe, but for some reason yocto will only install chronyd

Anyone who knows how to resolve this?
<mckoan>
Guest14: add this in your image IMAGE_INSTALL:append = " chrony chronyc"

That did it! Thanks! I just assumed that since 'bitbake chronyc' didn't work, it wouldnt matter adding it to my IMAGE_INSTALL either.

mcfrisk: fstab and crypt tab up to date, everything mounts automatically and fine, it just doesn't use the tpm per but prompts for a password.
<LetoThe2nd>
Guest14: just bitbaking a package is basically the equivalent of putting a package into the repository, and making sure that you can build it. but it doesn't automatically install it - mental image: you could have a huge variety of images. which one(s) would be affected?

mcfrisk: for the record: /etc/crypttab was up to date, but also needed a "- tpm2-device=auto" tail additionally

AdrianF: we added a fedora42 worker and I can't seem to make it fail...
<mcfrisk>
LetoThe2nd: ok good to know. systemd-repart sets these up automatically and then uses defaults so no /etc/fstab or /etc/crypttab are needed
<LetoThe2nd>
mcfrisk: yeah, I'll look into the automatic setup next, but not sure if I find enough time for it. the focus is, as ever so often, not productizing but creating resources for education.
<mcfrisk>
LetoThe2nd: FWIW, that linked repo creates initrd for the setup which uses dmverity for /usr and creates TPM encrypted writable rootfs and combines these with UEFI secure boot for kernel and initrd in UKI, and then kernel command line binds to dmverity so secure boot all the way to userspace
<LetoThe2nd>
mcfrisk: yeah, my concern is that its too much of a bite for me to chew currently.

riscv-isa-clear.scc' not found, this will cause configuration failures. Is this known issue (latest master)?

RP: Nice, that looks very "green". So the issue must be a non F42 specific corner case with the sstate in my local build. That's also what the bug describes. Thanks again.
