o_o the umizoomi robot sometimes says "moldy mainframes!" as its catchphrase

well mainframes had viritualization for example since forever...it is arguably the other way around..the mainframe tech. eventually filters down to business and then consumer gear

and qemu 10
<nikolar>
why did they realease 15.1 so quickly
<nikolar>
usually it takes a bit longer lol
<xenos1984>
geist: I've done that I few days ago. (I have a nightly cronjob that checks for the latest qemu, bochs, gcc, binutils, gdb release and triggers a build for what has changed.)
<geist>
noice
<geist>
nikolar: well somewhere along the way they switched their major/minor stuff to be a bit faster cadence
<geist>
kinda like how a lot of other projects did
<nikolar>
geist: wait, is it no longer the case that they release a major version once a year and then a .1 full of bugfixes?

nikolar: There's a major version denoted .1 every year around the end of April, and I have bugfix versions .2 and .3 around December and in the following year. Before the major release, the release branch has a .0 version number.

<pie_>
hi folks
<pie_>
i get serial output from syslinux on a supermicro server, but i cant seem to give any input, not just the arrow keys, but letters or anything else doesnt seem to work either
<pie_>
this is the BMC IPMI serial-over-lan serial port
<pie_>
the physical keyboard works fine, and so does grub 2, it seems to just be an isolinux problem
<pie_>
does anyone have any idea how i can do some kind of debugging to figure out whats going on?
<pie_>
booting the same USB storage device in QEMU seems to work fine
<the_oz>
isn't there some boot options to find more bios drivers to load? like um... ACPI?
<pie_>
I dont quite understand?
<pie_>
also part of the confusion is that serial _output_ works fine
<the_oz>
also, maybe there's a blessed usb port that loads in BIOS during boot
<the_oz>
oh right you are doing this remotely
