ChanServ changed the topic of #river to: river - a dynamic tiling Wayland compositor || https://codeberg.org/river/river || channel logs: https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/river/
<Kon74> Hi, I've been playing around with River on and off for some time and it's been great! Especially recently. One thing that i kept noticing is that the brightness/gamma is different(noticeably brighter) from the bulk of other compositors such as Sway or Hyprland, Qtile(Wayland) for example. Does anybody know anything about why it might differ? My
<Kon74> setup is all AMD, the GPU is Gigabyte RX6600(Radeon), gigabyte MB, cpu is Ryzen 5 5600X.

<sewn> voidlinux: super+shift+0?
<voidlinux> sewn: It works but i need an automatic solution, not manual. But thanks for help.
<dnkl> voidlinux: riverctl rule-add -app-id <app-id> tags 4294967295 works for me
<voidlinux> dnkl: Thanks sir, i will try that. By the way, thanks for all of your projects.
<voidlinux> dnkl: It worked, thanks for help.
<Nickli> wouldnt that work with sticky tag/window?
<Nickli> or am i misunderstanding how that function works?
<voidlinux> Isn't sticky tag means put the window on just one tag? Probably i know wrong.

<Nickli> since it is grouped as scratchpad/sticky tag i got the impression its a similar function

<leon-p> Nickli: river doesn't have any concept of "sticky"
<leon-p> if you want a window to be always displayed, you'll have to add it to all tags

<Kon747> Hi, did anyone notice change in brightness or gamma when switching to River from Sway/Hyprland?
zuki has quit [Quit: Client closed]
<ifreund> Kon747: I haven't heard of that before
<Kon747> It might be my hardware
<Kon747> The gpu is radeon rx6600
<Kon747> When i switch over everything gets brighter/ more contrasty. The white colors really blast
<Kon747> So i thought maybe some sort of change in default gamma setting is happening
<Kon747> It doesn't seem to happen on Sway or Hyprland or even Qtile(wayland)
<Kon747> Those 3 seem to all have similar color profile
<ifreund> not sure what the difference would be if you're comparing the same wlroots version on the same kernel/mesa
<Kon747> That's the same thing i was thinking
<Kon747> I was just curious if anybody else experienced something similar

<pleq> why is passing through a shell bad when spawning? maybe there should a spawn option and another option that doesnt use shell?
<pleq> i do spawn shell commands on keybind, and that lets me keep it inside init without having lots of different bash scripts

<Cold-Leopard> Hello! Has anyone managed to get Krita running on River? I'm on version 3.7 and Krita seems to constantly think my tablet pen is not behaving. It doesn't work at all on the main screen, and when I open a canvas, there seems to be a considerable offset between where Krita thinks the pen is, and where it actually is. I've tried using mapping the
<Cold-Leopard> tablet to a specific display using RiverCTL, tried using OpenTabletDrivers, nothing seems to work. Other compositors seem to work just fine, and other apps such as GIMP work fine, but Krita and River don't get along. I believe Krita is QT based, so perhaps others have seem similar with other QT applications?
