<d1b2> <david.rysk> biggest annoyances are the centered taskbar (fixable with a setting) and the "new style" right click menu (you can turn it off, but that can break things, and apps are slowly adapting)
<d1b2> <david.rysk> it's not like Win8/8.1 which were horrible; Win10 mostly went back to the familiar desktop/start menu
<azonenberg> its almost like they realized that not everyone uses a tablet
<azonenberg> win8 felt like a touch-first UX
<azonenberg> Windows is also almost completely unusable unless you get a professional/enterprise seat so you can use group policy to fix a lot of the worst stuff :p
<azonenberg> But its far from just MS making awful UI decisions... (looks in general direction of recent ubuntu and GNOME)
<azonenberg> i will never forgive the gnome/gtk devs for removing proper typeahead in the file browser dialog and adding recursive search as the only option for selecting files
<azonenberg> and not as like a config setting your can turn on or off
<azonenberg> they explicitly deleted the original UX and rejected any patches to re-add it or add a preference setting
<d1b2> <david.rysk> lol someone made a patched version to re-add it - https://github.com/lubomir-brindza/nautilus-typeahead
<d1b2> <david.rysk> MS... they make a decision, then roll it back after lack of acceptance
<azonenberg> yes, they did, but then gtk4 came out
<azonenberg> and it was too much work for anyone to reimplement last i checked
<azonenberg> also afaik that is for the file manager app not the dialog that is integrated into other apps
<azonenberg> its easy to just use a different file manager from kde or something
<azonenberg> a lot harder to not use anything that uses GtkFileChooserDialog
