I am on mobile and might disappear, will check the history for what I've missed, "mention" erilun06: or erilun06-mobile: when responding
<erilun06-mobile>
I am installing crux on a laptop that already has a grub/bios/UEFI partition, can I use that somehow or do I need to overwrite it?
<erilun06-mobile>
If I can reuse it, how do I go about doing that?
<erilun06-mobile>
I've mounted /dev/sda1(the UEFI partition) to /mnt/boot if I recall correctly

ok, so I ended up trying(and reading some more), now I removed and created a new efi partition, and managed to actually run grub-install on it

jay! It boots, IT'S ALIVE, now how the *** do I change the fontsize in the tty?
<farkuhar>
erilun06: edit /etc/rc.conf and change the line that defines FONT. I recommend FONT=sun12x22
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: 4K screen?
<farkuhar>
SiFuh_: no, my screen isn't 4K. Which font do you recommend for that resolution?
<SiFuh_>
farkuhar: Ohhh hmmm, latarcyrheb-sun32 if I remember correctly.

what's with the recent update of python3 packages, a bunch of them seem to install the same files, e.g. /usr/lib/python3.12/site-packages/ueberzug/__pycache__/version.cpython-312.pyc
<farkuhar>
Yeah, apparently sepen wrote it back in 2008.
<ppetrov^>
hmm... i think there was a tool that would do the opposite, list missig files, supposed to be installed by packages
<ppetrov^>
pkg-not -- pretty clever idea
<erilun06>
uhm, I have been looking at the handbook for a while, and I still can't figure out how to install a package,
<erilun06>
ls /usr/ports <br><nothing here>
<erilun06>
\/usr/ports is empty
<erilun06>
oh, i'm getting tired, it's etc/ports where I need to move/rename some files
<cruxbridge>
<pitillo (@pitillo:crux.nu)> Hacer you synced the ports tree? (ports -u)
<cruxbridge>
<pitillo (@pitillo:crux.nu)> * Have
<erilun06>
I hadn´t, I did, now it's working, but the handbook is a bit unclear in my opinion
<cruxbridge>
<pitillo (@pitillo:crux.nu)> It’s quite clear IMHO, but in my case, I needed many reads… on each pass I discovered something new
<erilun06>
pitillo: what are you using to write? are you not using an IRC client?
<farkuhar>
erilun06: I believe it's a Matrix-to-IRC bridge.
<erilun06>
ah, cool, although I kinda wish you had an xmpp server... but that might just be because I have my own host, so my username is name@name.lastname.it. and it's a pretty cool protocoll, and easy to setup
