<tm512`> so I'm wanting to remove some noise from a digitized tape recording. I think most of it isn't tape hiss, I think it was from the head, since the noise was basically just as present while I had it playing but just paused the tape
<tm512`> afftdn=nf=-30:om=o does a pretty good job bringing the noise down to a more tolerable level, but it causes artifacting (sounds kinda in the high-end like a poor quality MP3 encode)
cantelope has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]
<tm512`> I did record several seconds at the start of the recording with the tape paused, getting just the pure noise. wondering just how much better it'd be if I tried to get ffmpeg to tune the FFT stuff around that noise. it didn't seem like that functionality is particularly easy to use
<tm512`> I guess I might try RNNoise. I know I'm not going to make a crappy tape recording sound good, but I just want to minimize how much NR actually degrades the quality
fannagoganna has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]
<tm512`> okay, RNNoise works so much better than the FFT filter

<Xe> dumb question: I'm trying to convert 1.png, 2.png .. 1024.png into an mp4 file. this command is not working because it claims it can't open the output file: ffmpeg -framerate 30 -pattern_type glob -i '%3d.png' out.mp4, what am I missing?
<Xe> ah, the torment nexus hallucinated wrong
<Xe> i didn't want pattern type glob
<another|> yeah, globbing means *

<sam113101> my ffmpeg says "[q] command received. Exiting."
<sam113101> but it's stuck there
<sam113101> been stuck there for more than 30 minutes
<another|> it finalizes the output. but 30 min seems a bit long
<sam113101> should I just kill it?
