<narmstrong> basically for the PHYs (DDR, usb, pcie) the fab will basically force them to use pre-routed analog blocks, usually from Synopsys, but most of these PHYs don't have register interface so each vendors do their secret sauce but the fields still the same
<narmstrong> since rk, aml, allwinner, nxp... all goes to TSMC and uses the same technology they all share the same ddr controllers & co

<f_> 00:48 <CyReVolt> yea, quite likely
<f_> well, it's all synopsys ddr phy
<f_> The real question is which version of it
<CyReVolt> <narmstrong> "since rk, aml, allwinner, nxp......" <- ah that makes sense, I didn't know that the fab also plays such a significant role - thank you!
<f_> ok who told amlogic about the existence of the postmarketOS wiki
<f_> > Marketing department of Amlogic (USA)Ltd
<f_> > @amlogic.com email address
<f_> ????????????
<jn> oof, marketing slop
<f_> jn: Marketing slop from an official @amlogic.com email address!

<narmstrong> nice
<f_> hehe
<f_> > [ amlogicwiki ] FerassElHafidi: Message to AML2025 (Amlogic marketing dept): please do not add marketing slop to a technical wiki page. Thank you for your understanding. - https://wiki.postmarketos.org/index.php?title=Category:Amlogic&diff=79654&oldid=prev
<f_> hopefully they stop acting like a spambot and actually improve the docs :D
<f_> inb4 "[PATCH reversing-gxbb-bl2] add introduction about amlogic [From: Amlogic Marketing Dept]" /j
<f_> (no they did not send a patch .. yet)
<f_> Do they do that kind of stuff often?

<f_> ok it would seem that bpi-cm4 BL2 stuff is mostly the same as alta
<f_> so if I get one of them working I get both of them working I believe
<f_> and it would seem that I have an old postmarketOS-edge installed on the eMMC chip on the BPI-CM4
<f_> however it seems like I get no uart output .. great :p

<CyReVolt> I like Rockchip's 404 page :D https://www.rock-chips.com/404
<CyReVolt> Is there a Matrix channel for Rockchip development, on that note?
cbeznea_ has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<f_> dunno
<f_> all I know is #linux-rockchip on I forgot which IRC network
<f_> I think on libera
<f_> CyReVolt: I also like how rockchip's domain is "Rock Chips"
* f_ throws rocks at chips

<f_> got uart output, I was stupid
<f_> I accidentally forgot to disable CONFIG_SPL_SHARES_INIT_SP_ADDR .. well obviously things work less well when you try to access the DRAM while it's not even working yet :^)
<CyReVolt> Noice, congrats!

<linkmauve> CyReVolt, #linux-rockchip at irc.libera.chat, indeed.

<CyReVolt> Right, thanks! I hope I can join via Matrix. I think libera had some issues somehow. Might be outdated memories.
<linkmauve> I’m joined just fine from XMPP, I doubt it’ll be an issue.
