<SiFuh> ukky: https://i.snipboard.io/cJyFMY.jpg The gate post I installed is coming loose. I used an anchor bolt where one of the loose threaded rebars was.
<SiFuh> Everytime it rains it gets worse. So I am going to have to wait for a month with no rain and fill it with concrete.
<SiFuh> Every other post is fine. It is only one that has this issue
<SiFuh> Besides, all the other posts are actually set into a much thicker slab of concrete
<SiFuh> When I do fill the holes with concrete, I will make a small frame and raise the concrete about 1/2 in higher so water will run around it instead

<SiFuh> zorz: Trash can UPS works. Worth 777 MYR here and I bought a battery only
<SiFuh> I paid 72.99 for the battery
<zorz> what do you expect, american company.
<zorz> but DHL, fuckin germans.
<SiFuh> No people are stupid. They use tech and software and don't understand how it works. Stops working, they throw it in the trash.
<SiFuh> Then people like me come along and see it in the trash and take it home.
<SiFuh> With the exception of this UPS, the wife found that. Didn't know what it was and asked me if I can use.
<zorz> you know i worked before, in DHL Leipzig, the hub of DHL. the company has parked 120 aircrafts, and every night they depart.
<zorz> fuckin amazing.
<zorz> its based in Leipsig because they are allowed to to night flights. in general Germany does not allow night flights.
<zorz> dbus-broker, instead of dbus. and now i read redis change the lisence [archlinux.org] redis was so nice and fast database.
<zorz> valkey instead of redis.
<zorz> python+redis on the fly webpages :P
<SiFuh> I didn't mind to buy the battery for the UPS because it is the same battery my electric gate uses
<zorz> yessssssssss
<SiFuh> zorz: I've been awake 27 hours now.
<zorz> so you use it somewhere else.
<SiFuh> Trying to force my Circadian Rhythm to what is considered normal hours.
<SiFuh> I've been stuck on Taxi night shift hours for over 5 years, since I stopped driving taxis.

<farkuhar> The domain name opencrux.org now resolves, but it's only populated by placeholder content. Has anyone volunteered to put together a simple website for this project?
<SiFuh> farkuhar: Simple is best.
<SiFuh> farkuhar: Hey, maybe that is something remiliascarlet can do. She knows that kind of stuff doesn't she?
<SiFuh> I haven't made websites for more than 15 years, and in those days it was PHP, CSS, HTML and NO_Javascript at all.
<farkuhar> SiFuh: Yes, I was thinking of her when reading the recent chat logs.
<SiFuh> Keep it simple like crux.nu and openbsd.org. No need fancy stuff. Just something pleasant to read, like a resume with a lot of white spaces
<SiFuh> And HTML and CSS can pretty much do anything these days.
<farkuhar> We could host some proposed HTML and CSS source files at the codeberg.org/opencrux repo, and ask for feedback via tickets or pull requests, until they're in a shape fit for deployment.
<SiFuh> If it works, why not. Just like the core repo. That's a team job. And if you were reading the logs, I still recommend moving all the compilation tools to a special repo.
<SiFuh> Let's say a user builds an OpenCRUX server. they have everything they need. Last thing they would wants is to have compilation tools on their system that are only there for makedepends*. Not only is it a waste of space but it can also be a security threat.
<SiFuh> I remember in 2003 my friends RedHat server had a vulnerability in gcc and so did the PaxHATO server in Australia. I gained root access by writing to the memory and crashing the shell thanks to GCC.
<farkuhar> I haven't done web design in 15 years also. I probably still have backups of the last website I worked on for a small company. For that effort I teamed up with an actual graphic artist, so I never had to worry about whether the GIMP would work on my own machine, I only had to find a suitable layout to coordinate the art with the other content.
<SiFuh> I have the complete backup of the last website I wrote in vi 100% back in 2004/2005. It is on a 80GB tape cartridge.
<SiFuh> It had basically like 4 unique pages. Everything else was a PHP function and template files. You wanted to change a URL on every page? No worries. Open the config file and change the URL there. Every page is instantly pointing to the new URL.
<SiFuh> Drop down, floating, scrollable menus all written in CSS. Was almost unheard of without JavaScript back in those days.
<SiFuh> My own personal webserver had everything in MySQL.
<SiFuh> https://web.archive.org/web/20101231130601/http://yenjie.net:80/ <-- The last snapshot before it got hit by lightening.
<farkuhar> zorz and SiFuh were discussing licenses and copyright recently, in the context of the installation program (bash script + dialog, versus C + libdialog). I'll note that akosela's OpenBSD-inspired install script was released under the BSD 2-Clause simplified license. https://github.com/akosela/crux-install/blob/master/LICENSE
<SiFuh> farkuhar: My stuff is released under BSD 3
<farkuhar> Okay, I'm away for a few hours. I look forward to seeing how the website work will be delegated.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet! Do your magic!

<dlcusa> May was packed, June looks tp be no better... I haven't tried SiFuh's other C rc executables. Was working on setup but I'll defer to SiFuh, since I keep getting interrupted. Daughter's C-section in Wesr Virginia tomorrow. Don't forget the ISO needs to be able to build the kernel.
<dlcusa> Well, technically chroot in the ISO needs to be able to build the kernel. And it would be nice to build/install SiFuh's rc package as well until it's in core.
<dlcusa> The old setup let the user choose packages from three repos to install. Is that anathema now?
