<borneoa___>
PaulFertser: hello! Jenkins is blocked since few days with message that it's going to shutdown. Can you please have a check? I can retrigger the jobs, after that.
<PaulFertser>
borneoa___: sure
<PaulFertser>
Sometimes Jenkins just stucks doing some meaningless I/O and proceeds working normally after restart. Currently busy chewing through the old queue.
<borneoa___>
PaulFertser: thanks. I will wait it cleans the queue, then I will check if something is missing.
<Xogium>
darn, you folks seem to have so much trouble with jenkins I'm unsure if I ever want to bother setting it up as CI over here...
<PaulFertser>
Xogium: what are you options, gitlab workers?
<PaulFertser>
"status:open -is:wip label:verified=0" should be the right query for "trigger manually"
<Xogium>
PaulFertser: not sure yet, tbf. I've setup forgejo aka codeberg, and I was looking at CI setup
<Xogium>
gitlab is *awful* for accessibility so it's pretty much out the window
<PaulFertser>
Gitlab is probably awful with everything.
<Xogium>
fair acessment I believe
<PaulFertser>
Xogium: probably our Jenkins problems are mostly due to running on underpowered VPS.
<PaulFertser>
Or probably I'm not the right person to make it behave
<Xogium>
PaulFertser: I could at least give it a good shot on this new server we just got thanks to a promo, dual xeon e5-2680v2 cpus, 128 gb of ram, dual 1.6 tb sata ssd
<PaulFertser>
That's nice specs
<Xogium>
yeah
<Xogium>
would have been $120 a month normally, but spring cleaning sale reduced it to a permanent $64 a month
<Xogium>
they were also super awesome and got me ipmi access configured in serial over lan mode, so I can have a nice serial access to the server in case the network explodes, all without having to use an horrible applet that isn't accessible at all with a screen reader. Just had to mention that I was blind and they were like, gotcha, no worries
<PaulFertser>
Serial over lan is the way! BTW, OpenBMC exposes that via dedicated ssh port without any ipmi silliness, such a nice feature.
<Xogium>
ooh nice
<Xogium>
maybe I could ping them about that software
<PaulFertser>
It's up to server motherboard manufacturer to integrated, either it's there or not, alas.
<Xogium>
aw, that's disapointing
<Xogium>
yeah I don't think supermicro plays with that, at least not on older gen probably
<Xogium>
so well migration was a bit hardcore but next one will be much easier hopefully, should there be a next one in future. I've stuffed all of my things inside systemd-nspawn containers. Just have to export a tarball of each container to back them up or migrate them somewhere else. I wish I had known all of this back when I had the first server :D

looks like forgejo has its own integrated action support, a bit like gh action... And that it can use stuff like podman. Oh my that looks messy. Can you imagine that, a container in a container doing CI jobs in a container ? :D
