szgy: that protocol is meant to allow window managers to handle layer shell surfaces, the actual layer shell using clients themselves will not need to know about that

I'm trying river for the first time, and copied the example config to get started. I cannot seem to launch a terminal. super+Shift+E closes river, but Super+Shift+enter does not open foot. I've read the getting started guid and am clearly misisng something obvious here

I remade the file and it's working now.maybe I had some weird character or the sample file corrupted or something.
