<CounterPillow> Kwiboo: hmm, am I correct in the guess that rk3576-boost.bin only gets used if mkimage is called with -T rksd and not with the default binman build?

<Kwiboo> CounterPillow: it probably is used for all mkimage with -n rk3576, did not really matter for emmc/sd-card boot or when I tested with spi flash boot on rock-4d (sfc0) and nanopi-m5 (sfc1)
<Kwiboo> I have not looked at ufs boot, I do know there is now a boots v1.03 or similar blob that should speed up ufs boot, looked like it was much more intrusive than the writel(0x3ffff800, 0x3ff803b0) sd-card boot fix
<Kwiboo> rk3576_boost_v1.03.bin: accelerate UFS boot speed
<CounterPillow> yep, I tracked down my production ROCK 4D model not booting off SD card today and I added a bunch of debug fprintf's to the rkcommon code where the boost is added, and I didn't see those debug prints ever turn up when running a normal `make` that creates a `u-boot-rockchip.bin` :(
<Kwiboo> ahh, that is because rock-4d only support ufs->spi->maskrom boot
<Kwiboo> or if it is spi->ufs->maskrom
<Kwiboo> at least on my board with spi flash
<CounterPillow> Huh, weird
<CounterPillow> how do they control that behaviour?
<Kwiboo> saradc ch0 default to ~1600 on my board, and min or max when maskrom button was pressed
<CounterPillow> oh :| that's an odd choice, I should look into the schematic when I get the time I guess.
<Kwiboo> the rock-4d schematic did not list the boot configs, https://wiki.friendlyelec.com/wiki/images/9/97/NanoPi_M5_LP5_2411_SCH.pdf does list 1658 as FSPI0->UFS->USB and 0 as USB (Maskrom mode), and looked like the model with spi flash use ~1658 as default when mask button is not pressed
<Kwiboo> I was also wondering why sd-card boot did not work the other day, and figured it is because the tuned adc value, at least on spi flash models
<CounterPillow> Thanks, I guess I can stop worrying about the boost binary then for now and adjust our instructions to say that booting from SD requires an u-boot on SPI :D
<Kwiboo> spi flash pins is muxed with emmc pins on rock-4d, so any form of emmc boot is also not working, so for now only spi-flash boot seem to work on rock-4d
<Kwiboo> yeah, without anything in spi flash my board did not boot, and there may have been some issue booting mainline u-boot prober from the vendor u-boot spl that came with my board
<Kwiboo> I just wiped the spi flash and put mainline u-boot on it intead of investigate any vendor spl vs mainline proper incompatibility issues ;-)
<Kwiboo> my best guess would be that such compatibility issue could be related to hrtimer in 1ghz (vendor) vs 24mhz (mainline) mode
