<detlevc> warpme: I pushed some new code for rkvdec, can you try it out ?
<detlevc> yes
<warpme> i already update my code to this branch. unfortunately no diff (still occasional issues on 3576). By curiosity i built ffmpeg7.1 & mpv (with required patches) as archlinux .pkgs and tried mpv playback on archlinux. Still issue. Also i built mythtv as archlinux .pkg - still issue. More nad more i think issue might be hw related maybe? Do you think is it worth to try to run yours bins on mine hw?
<warpme> interesting is that errant playback sometimes become ok after some minutes of continuous play
<CounterPillow> mmind00: since you're on a patch applying spree, I've heard of this great series called "RK3576 thermal sensor support, including OTP trim adjustments" by this really cool guy "Nicolas", it's ripe for the pickings from what I've been told
<mmind00> CounterPillow: Nicolas is not that distinctive anymore ... from the review of the defconfig change, it seems there is a 3rd one now? :-D
<warpme> also the same content sometimes plays ok from start; sometimes starts with artefacts then becomes ok after some time. All this pretends to me like i.e. some hw register(s) are not always set or are set but after some time?

<CounterPillow> mmind00: there's a lot of Nicolases at Collabora now, yes :V
<CounterPillow> our kernel contributions are like 50% Nicolas by volume
<mmind00> so "it's all Nicolas' fault" ... will be right 50% of time ;-)
<detlevc> warpme: I'll packup the binaries and we will see, what board are you testing on exactly?
<CounterPillow> mmind00: can't really say I'm adding bugs when I somehow usually submit fixes for issues I then fail to reproduce two months later :(
<warpme> it is nanopi-m5 with lpddr5
<warpme> i can provide you dts (with full hw support contrary to initial dt flying around ml)
<warpme> so you can compile-in into yours kernel

<detlevc> warpme: I uploaded ffmpeg (I just tar'd the /usr/local folder where it is installed, also it is not stripped): https://people.collabora.com/~detlev/rk3576/ffmpeg-7.1+v4l2requests-trixie.tar.xz and mpv deb packages: https://people.collabora.com/~detlev/rk3576/libmpv2_0.40.0-9_arm64.deb and
<detlevc> I also noticed, with mpv, that if I don't use the -fs (fullscreen) flag, the video is like 50% transparent. It's not the case with -fs for some reason. I don't thing this is a decoder issue though
<detlevc> warpme: fwiw, I just saw it very briefly with gstreamer (it didn't last more that .5 seconds) and can't get it again. So we can probably rule out an ffmpeg issue \o/
<warpme> ah good. one variable less :-)
<warpme> huh - it looks like attempt to use debian bins on arch will be more difficult than i was thinking: trixie has multiple deps @ much older vers than arch (rolling release) and arch arm repos have only current .pks (older are deleted). so i can't move with such approach. but maybe we can try at least with kernel? dtbs, Image and modules/* should be enough (assuming kern.ver is the same as i will need probably use mine dtb for mine nanopi-5m?
<detlevc> warpme: Yes, I doubted it would be easy to use build packages on different distros like that. First, I'll push another debug commit I'd like you to try
<detlevc> it fixes some funky alignment based on the downstream driver

<warpme> detlevc : interesting: it can't see any mmc (https://gist.github.com/warpme/0613a28bb3ef8dd9725c6e3f06cdceb6) i'm booting from mmc as it is only storage i have in my board. Is mmc support build-in or as module? If module - then i have chicken-and-egg problem (to get mmc working i need module from this mmc...)

<detlevc> You'd need to build a ramdisk, I can build one with mmc built-in

<warpme_> detlevc: as i'm replacing kernel in my appliance - not full distro - best imho will be to have your kernel build with mine kernel config. i recall you done test with mine kernel config and rkvdec3 was working ok for you isn't?
<detlevc> warpme_: i'll build that
<warpme> oh qll!
<detlevc> in the meantime, I tried your test file on rk3576 with mpp (downstream driver), and it is completely wrong, I need to do a bit more tests, but if I can't make it work with mpp, I'll have to turn to rockchip for help
