the whole thing about OS i my fault .. i was using it as as short form for Open Scad .. i will use scad from now on
<bitbasher>
a question of colours - in the Minecraft Sword example i posted yesterday i am trying to colour the blocks according to data in the height array call matrix. BUT only the first colour, gray, applied to the first object created is used .. the docs say that is intended behaviour .. that any call to color() inside a union or difference is ignored ..
<bitbasher>
so the Q is - how can i get draw a multi-coloured sword ?
<bitbasher>
actually .. i am more in doubt : i simplified the MC sword code to just the nested loops to walk through the array of height data and i set the colour for each block i create .. but everything still comes out in the same gray colour .. maybe my indexing of the colour lookup table is wrong hummm
<bitbasher>
and TeePee -- did you see chevereto as a self hosting image solution ? it looks really good to me on a fast skim read
<teepee>
I think that was the useless one in community mode? like single user support only
<bitbasher>
so .. any input on my colouring issue?
<bitbasher>
oh .. wait up now ... i think there is an indexing problem in my code
<teepee>
I did not follow, I (believe I) fixed the 3mf display issue in manyfold (the one with y) :)
<bitbasher>
that is a great fix : manifold --> manyfold .. perfect
<teepee>
manifold = 3d mesh engine, manyfold = fediverse 3d model app - https://3dprint.social
<bitbasher>
what is a fediverse please? maybe i am not keeping up with the fine points of the neuro-divergent spectrum?
<bitbasher>
oh .. Powered by Manyfold .. finally the mind opens as the eyes see

bitbasher: fediverse = may "social" apps that connect via a common protocol, so you can follow and connect with people/things across the whole fediverse from the account you have, e.g. mastodon (~ twitter), peertube (~ youtube), lemmy (~ reddit), manyfold (~ thingiverse)...

cloned a aliexpress pcb in openscad first, then designed a case around it :)

InPhase: You know how we sorted out the SineWave ontop of a cylinder the other day? I have a question relating to that. I thought I would be able to use the HULL() operation to make a slant between the first cylinder and the second cylinder. Except I get the huge overlap that basically overs all of it which is definitely not what I wanted. https://pastebin.com/rTfxPXjV
<cart_man>
InPhase: What I want is cylinder one merging with cylinder two but not in the Middle of the entire project. The reason I want this is because I want a slight slant that connects cylinder one(OUTER) with cylinder two(INNER). You will see that the second shell() is translated on Z just a little
<bitbasher>
buzz: that looks like a Good Thing .. but why does the box rise up behind the USB connectors?
<bitbasher>
hey folks .. is there anyway to get any data out of a generated object .. like when i use surface() to do a height map surface can i query the object to get data out of it?
<teepee>
short answer: no

bitbasher: it was a novel idea to have powerbank be able to be used inside your backpack etc, without the inserted cables pushing against the connectors (which break off the pcb then)
<buZz>
also makes it a better size imho :) but size is mostly dictated by the 'whatever lipos i found in ewaste'
<bitbasher>
sigh .. well then .. i was working on something for Guest31's wish for way to build a matrix based on the shape of something generated .. and i think i have a way to break a object down into voxels but if i cannot query a shape to knows its position or anything then .. it dont work
<buZz>
quickly remixed for different batteries
<bitbasher>
indeed .. backpack resistant powerbank is a Noble Goal
<buZz>
the whole powerbank idea just started because my lover was complaining about their powerbank collection all being shit :P
<buZz>
randomly some '20W bidirectional PD' pcb from aliexpress, some ewaste batteries
<buZz>
i'll need to order a bunch more of that pcb , for future powerbanks ;) it seems kinda ok
<bitbasher>
good idea all around .. i am out for dinner
<buZz>
bon appetit
