@palmer: So I sent a PR a couple of hours ago, but it has not showed up on the mailing list yet. It happens very often that my mails only reach the mailing list after a few hours, is there a way to know why? And am I the only one?
<kepstin>
lots; ubuntu, debian, gentoo, fedora, alpine and others.
<itrsea>
Yes
<smaeul>
Esmil: looks like the bug is that it doesn't clear the remaining bytes of the cell (subtract bytes_offset from cell->bytes in the loop control and clear bytes_offset bytes at the end)
<kepstin>
note that a lot of existing risc-v hardware available to consumers requires installation methods with hardware specific images, due to things like bootloader support or non-upstream kernel components. so you often need to check for support for your specific hardware.

palmer: (no rush since I see mention of family things but wanted to throw it out sooner rather than later) There is an internal LLVM assertion failure after the change to use asm goto with outputs in the get_user macros, would something like this be too ugly to insert as a workaround in the kernel: https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/143795#issuecomment-3014510376
<nathanchance>
Seems RISC-V specific based on my understanding of Craig's comment
