<Gary_M>
it's working though, I'm able to zoom in and see all the details
<Gary_M>
pretty impressive
<Gary_M>
even showed the house ;-)
<sicelo>
so confirm that the eg25 service is running, and /dev/EG25.NMEA exists
<sicelo>
anyway, you'll also face the same issue as we do on N900, that is upstream gpsd has a different init script
<Gary_M>
don't see a pid out there for eg25 when I grep but /dev/EG25.NMEA exists
<Gary_M>
ah yes eq25 service is running. [ + ] eg25

sicelo: @gpsd, oh indeed, the init script i have is totally different
<sicelo>
:-)
<sicelo>
so what needs to be done is first, to check if there's anything else that's needed in the gpsd fork besides the init script. doesn't appear to be so however, since the gpsd on my device appears to work somewhat, afaict
<sicelo>
so we most likely just need to ship this init script through something like leste-config or maemo-system-services, overwriting the upstream script. should fix the issue right away, if i understand this correctly
<arno11>
ok, will try the other script later and let you know
<arno11>
ty btw
<sicelo>
yw
<sicelo>
this is going to affect all devices, so that's why PP isn't working too.
<arno11>
ok
<sicelo>
i'll see if i can test cloudgps on the D4 as you asked :-)
<arno11>
oh cool !
<arno11>
the thing to try on d4 is markers (press O on kb or long press on screen to show marker menu)

arno11: it opens on Droid 4, but the window is small. window size is hardcoded to n900 dimensions?
<sicelo>
O does create markers. unfortunately it also segfaults after about a minute or two. it wasn't segfaulting on N900 ... unless it's related to markers?
<sicelo>
Regarding position - something is wrong in cloudgps. it can "see" a fix and read speed and altitude from liblocation, but it can't show your position on the map
<sicelo>
otherwise it's nice and smooth. average 80fps on Droid 4 without disabling compositing
<sicelo>
oh, mmm, it eventually showed my location (map), so scratch that

sicelo: thx, issues seen in D4 are kind of expected ATM, no worries. On n900, yes, it shouldn't segfault anymore
<arno11>
btw, i tried fork script, somme errors on boot unfortunately, will have a look deeper this afternoon

<sicelo>
why not segfault on N900 vs. D4
<sicelo>
position is not an issue. it eventually displayed
<sicelo>
and yes, that init script should be enough to make gps work on n900 too (it's all I did for D4)
<sicelo>
script error - something about running a liblocation client?
<Wizzup>
ok, bringing up the aarch64 vm as well, temporarily through emulation, but at least the forgejo actions will run
<Wizzup>
I'll also bring back Jenkins, but the builds will run slower for another day or two
<sicelo>
just `gconftool-2 -s /system/nokia/location/disclaimer-accepted -t bool true`
Twig has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds]

arno11: fyi I fixed the dns issue for the amd64 runner
<Wizzup>
now at least the runners should work again
<sicelo>
oh wow, wasn't aware it's part of NLNet too
<sicelo>
i guess in that case, we *must* make it work :-D
<arno11>
sicelo: ty @gdb segfault btw

Wizzup: @dns issue, great
<arno11>
indeed run 12 is ok now
<arno11>
btw, an issue i noticed with location: from boot PM is normal. once location/fix is running, current draw increases ofc, but doesn't decrease if i disable gps (until next reboot)
<arno11>
the additional current draw is around 60mA
<arno11>
and the n900 become quite hot
<Wizzup>
could be related to nokia-n900-gps tool or something
<Wizzup>
ok, jenkins, -should- be back now too, but also slow (emulated arm vms)
<arno11>
@gps, yeah maybe
<sicelo>
you can try manually /etc/init.d/gpsd stop. location-daemon should stop it on its own, but looks like it doesn't actually succeed
<arno11>
yes indeed, no diff with gpsd stop
<Wizzup>
arno11: so all gps related programs are killed?
<arno11>
yes and still +60mA
<arno11>
is there any kernel related module btw ?
<sicelo>
no :-)
<sicelo>
it's part of the modem
<arno11>
ok, was just to confirm
<arno11>
ok
<sicelo>
so maybe we are missing whatever glue that should make the modem idle the gps channel afterwards
<arno11>
ah maybe
<arno11>
i removed nokia-modem, doesn't help

Gary_M: when you tried cloudgps on PP, did it crash after a while or ? which cloudgps version ?
<Gary_M>
arno11: the one packaged in HAM on daedalus. It actually locked up Hildon after awhile.
<Gary_M>
I tried killing the pid without success, ended up rebooting.
<arno11>
ok i see, we have this issue on all platform, however, sdl_swsurface avoids that crash
<arno11>
i'll build another version with sdl_swsurface for all platforms

this way we could test gps fix and routing properly on D4 and PP
<arno11>
at least it seems to work almost @100%
<arno11>
on n900
<arno11>
so it should not be too hard on other platforms lol
