dlcusa: Good old dose of Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide. Locked into a room and surrounded with music, bet that will fix that problem ;-)
<SiFuh>
dlcusa: Wonder is misphonia is connected
<remiliascarlet>
dlcusa: Which types of music you like often depends on the era you're born in. It's a constantly changing thing, like how zoomers find music millennials like to be "cheesy", and how millennials find music zoomers like to be "cringe". And I'm sure this applies to other generations as well.
<remiliascarlet>
Same with movies. Video games are a bit different; nobody likes the modern slop. Even zoomers and gen alpha are increasingly playing retro games, because all the new stuff sucks.
<SiFuh>
A bit simplified there.
<SiFuh>
Also left out phases as people grow older and tastes in music change.
<remiliascarlet>
That indeed happens, but not to the extent of, for example, from 1960s to 2020s music. Unless you're a musician, otherwise we'd be stuck with 1700s music forever.
<SiFuh>
I also have a massive collection of Thai songs I listen to
<remiliascarlet>
Or musicians are like programmers, where they hate the programming language and/or tools they have to use just to make a living.
<SiFuh>
I grew up being punished with the Beatles. Couldn't stand them at all. But mum always played it. But I preferred listening the my fathers choices. However, I am the only one that likes Hip Hop and country. Everyone in my family hates country. And almost all my friends hate it
<remiliascarlet>
Hip Hop to me sounds very depressing. Even the lyrics sound like some nigger hates his life and rants about it with music in the background most of the time.
<SiFuh>
Young MC, MC Hammer, Sir Mix A Lot, Tone Loc, Dj Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, Del Biv Devoe, Gangstarr, Audio 2, Kool Moe Dee, Digital Underground ;-) Just to name a few.
<dlcusa>
There did not seem to be any attempt to extract data regarding genres, which must be a significant factor, and peer approval must (pardon the puns) play a key role in enjoyment/displeasure.
<SiFuh>
dlcusa: Or the types of sounds from instruments. Some instruments justs sound so good while others are not so
<SiFuh>
Also I am not a fan of female country singing. I prefer the male sound.
<dlcusa>
Not to mention differences in skill levels of performers.
<SiFuh>
And Indian music, well that is another level of screaming when the women sing
<dlcusa>
But negative responses to what you hear are the flip side of the same coin--positive or negative show emotional response.
<SiFuh>
Well I can't stand hearing annoying small noises like bats scratching in my ceiling or people eating Hahaha
<SiFuh>
Or crying
<dlcusa>
"The hills are alive with the sound of bats scratching the ceiline?"
<SiFuh>
HAHA
<SiFuh>
The peaks are alive, with the sound bats scratching the ceiling void. Yeah doesn't fit
<SiFuh>
The ceiling voids are a alive, with the sounds of bats scratching.
<dlcusa>
SiFuh, since you enjoyed the Shickele/Perlman farce, you owe it to yourself to take in all 102 minutes of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2Hc5F4hJ60 at least once (is nothing sacred?).
<SiFuh>
dlcusa: later, reading Enoch stuff
<SiFuh>
dlcusa: Rope climb with knots a bit stupid but I liked it.
