<J25k24>
the image was about 1 minute ( z advances .1 - the code has advance 1 in Z)
<J25k24>
InPhase: 20 sec
<J25k24>
so 20min without manifold - Ü

Well. I tried my hand at it, and failed, being too groggy to fix it. But I failed with a pretty and nicely flowing result. :) https://imgur.com/a/ecMQtV4
<InPhase>
I needed to morph the smoothed randoms into a circular swirling trajectory track to make that manifest the target result, but that escapes the cognitive space allotted before bed. Night.
<InPhase>
I think probably a 3-4 point bezier that slides along with control points allocated in a semi-randomized circularized manner would have done it, rather than smoothing.
<J25k24>
if printed you only need layer - but looks terrible on screen
<J25k24>
Yours looks fantastic like one of these fractal vases
<J25k24>
yeah i was too lazy to copy bezier code into also for the loops you need more components to add variety.
<J25k24>
InPhase your code froze my openSCAD for some time .. Ü
<J25k24>

InPhase, are you 3d printing that? if so how does it look

someone remind me in a month to unlock it again ;-)

stealth_ not sure about support but probably it will do the job. You also can get used industrial laser for that price
<J25k24>
we have something like that (without the fiber laser) in our hacker space - but completely rebuild because the cooling made problems
<J25k24>
so if you build the CNC part yourself you sure can save some money
<J25k24>
but software integration is a big factor

J25k24: It hit 4 minutes for me. :) But yeah, it was a hefty one. I don't usually use these modalities. I'm pleased though that it becomes computable compared to pre-Manifold days, in which this would be a non-starter design.
<InPhase>
stefanct: No, no intention of printing that. I don't have a lot of use for vases.
<J25k24>
InPhase when i started i had openSCAD running for days .. however in image rendering this was quite normal
<InPhase>
J25k24: My longest designs rendered in 25 minutes at then-times, because anything beyond that and it became unfeasable for me to do anything sufficiently iterative for me to complete a design.
<InPhase>
So I would just halt a plan or switch methods.
<InPhase>
This is how several of my library designs for addressing this arose in the first place. :)
<InPhase>
I did this vase with a 30 second version, then just cranked it to the 4 minute version for final render.
<J25k24>
as polyheadron this would be much faster at least without the inside.

mmmz, I'm still dragging along an old 'custom' ebuild for openscad
<t4nk_fn>
tried to rebuild just now, first there was something with scintilla, I guess that's built with qt6 now
<t4nk_fn>
but there's still 'error: no matching function for call to
<t4nk_fn>
‘PolySet::PolySet(const Polygon2d&)’'
<t4nk_fn>
what package was that from again?
<t4nk_fn>
I'm using manifold git btw, not sure if that's ok at present
<t4nk_fn>
heh, manifold is in the repos nowadays I see ;)
<teepee>
polyset sounds like the internal data structure
<t4nk_fn>
mmm something is up somehow.. gotta run, will check later

there is a problem building with the latest manifold versio
<pca006132>
I should look into it later when I have time, just back to HK after a week in Europe
<t4nk_fn>
I'm still here, but I really shouldn't ;)
<t4nk_fn>
I tried other versions of manifold too.. no success
<t4nk_fn>
euhhhh manifold-3.0.2_pre20250330 and 3.1.0
<t4nk_fn>
I can try 3.0.1 when I get back

nope, fails with all manifolds
<t4nk_fn>
but the error is about the Poliset

must be a gentoo thing I guess.. building by hand with -DENABLE_MANIFOLD=ON -DUSE_QT6=ON seems to work ok

(what a rotten mess.)

J25k24, i also like the welding and rust melding aspect, as it will come in handy to build the cnc itself.

J25k24, i heard that you can convert laser into fiber laser as well, since they are all the same just their delivery is different

i c, makes sense. I even looked at synova they seem to have the best setup of them all, not sure of their price and they haven't gotten back to me about price rance.
<stealth_>
well maybe those are better for production, not really fit for my use just yet.
<J25k24>
you are looking more for a multi tool, while industrial systems are optimized to do one thing very good

true, true. I wonder if i can rig up fiber laser with waster jet block and convert it to microjet! might be cool :D
<stealth_>
o, is there a big difference between 800w vs 1200w? also i wonder what to do for air compressor! i have a normal one not sure if it can be used.

JordanBrown2: did you get my mail? GMX ended up on a spam list like 2 days ago, very annoying

argh, still happening :(
