J25k90, i can't view the content of that link, but ya that Xlaserlab is around $5k Canadian
<J25k90>
was just an example for a fiber laser system for ~2700k€
<stealth_>
what happens if it dies? it will be really hard to get hold of those unknown company
<J25k90>
sure you can get a trump laser for 6k - i guess if you choose cheap china - you just buy another
<J25k90>
(used trumpf laser)
<stealth_>
trump laser?
<stealth_>
o, u talking about tariff or whatever? o no, i wouldn't get it from US at this point, you can just order it directly from china, shipping can be a bit tricky but its reasonable.
<stealth_>
i live in canada btw

<J25k90>
they use a nano pulse laser and the water is also coolant
<stealth_>
J25k90, do you know how much this trumpf system would cost?
<J25k90>
as these are industrial systems you probably have maintenance contracts but i have seen used trumpf laser for 6k
<stealth_>
there is always going to be better and better technology out there, for now i just need something like fiber laser with cnc setup at reasonable price.
<stealth_>
i am just doing r&d prototyping

J25k90: That's some exceptional precision in the video.
<stealth_>
without water those would just join again.
<J25k90>
the difference between cutting and welding is that the molten metal is removed by air/water

can you use plasma if you are creating computer case mess? seems plasma would cut too much
<J25k90>
do you have a tig puls welder .. that is plasma. And if you cut only 0.5mm you need way less power
<stealth_>
i think it depends on the usecase for me i know i need something a bit more precise like laser, since i am working with small precession parts. anyways i am off to sleep, ttyl :)
