<SiFuh> ukky: Linux musl 6.6.62 #1 SMP Thu May 22 04:57:00 UTC 2025 x86_64 GNU/Linux
<SiFuh> Your crux musl ISO worked very well.
<SiFuh> I rebuilt the repo server out of the dumpster find.
<zorz> ouaaaaaa
<zorz> ouuuuuuu
<zorz> we have musl iso
<zorz> i am backing up everything... and dd nve0n1
<SiFuh> zorz: We had it for ages dude
<zorz> I am outdated dude
<zorz> :P
<SiFuh> [ukky> SiFuh: Try my 3.7 ISO. Smaller RAM requirement and it has compiler: https://cruxy.ca/files/crux-3.7-stage0.iso . Replace extension to md5 or sha256 to get ISO hash.
<zorz> okay
<SiFuh> Thu May 15 2025
<zorz> is Thu May 15 2025 ages?
<zorz> you modaforker as serpente calls you
<zorz> SiFuh: modaforker
<zorz> hahahahahahaa
<SiFuh> ukky: Those ratchet ring spanners are awesome. Heh.
<zorz> SiFuh: but what is the diff with this one https://sourceforge.net/projects/crux-musl/
<SiFuh> That's emmett1's version
<zorz> which one to install ?
<SiFuh> But I told him already that it was lame because it doesn't allow package selection. If you don't want grub it ends and you are stuck with no bootloader and it umounts my manually mounted /mnt at the end so I have remount it again just edit config files and stuff
<zorz> listen in Netherlands, i only have one pc and one usb drive. i am not to fuck around.

<SiFuh> zorz: I already told you zorz
<zorz> ukky
<SiFuh> Yes
<zorz> cool.
<zorz> i will do it later today
<SiFuh> And I installed my binary rc on it and it compiled fine under musl.
<zorz> let me backup properly everything, dont loose things like pip2crux again hahahaha
<zorz> community version of ksh is done to work with musl.
<SiFuh> zorz: This rubbish bin found computer is not bad. i5 with 4GB of RAM. https://i.snipboard.io/9ThBem.jpg
<SiFuh> zorz: MUSL with binary rc https://i.snipboard.io/pBxwOn.jpg
<zorz> ooo yes
<zorz> slightly better than my rubish thing CPU: Intel i3-4010U (4) @ 1.700GHz
<SiFuh> Yeah but mine was literally found in the rubbish
<zorz> mine was going to rubish... from my brothers kids :P
<SiFuh> Heh cool
<zorz> good thing consumes electircity like using a radio.
<zorz> and has installed UPC
<zorz> hahahahahaha
<zorz> SiFuh: in rc local i put this to it
<zorz> # (see /etc/runit/2).
<zorz> echo 4 | tee /sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank
<zorz> exit 0
<zorz> hahaha
<zorz> it restarts and blank
<SiFuh> Hmm I should change this if (pid > 0 && kill(pid, !strcmp(signal, "SIGTERM") ? SIGTERM : SIGKILL) == -1)
<SiFuh> to something like this if (pid != 1 && kill(pid, !strcmp(signal, "SIGTERM") ? SIGTERM : SIGKILL) == -1)
<zorz> SiFuh: are you talkin Greek to me?
<SiFuh> Not bad, install CRUX musl, tweak rc for MUSL and remove the bathroom cabinent from the wall and redid the plumbing.
<erilun06-mobile> I'm trying to install luakit, which depends on webkitgtk, but Webkitgtk fails to build in really strange ways. Could someone with a decent computer (I'm running crux on an old laptop) try building it, to see if it's an issue with my hardware, or something wrong with the pkgfile on 3.8
<zorz> SiFuh: + talkin with zorz :P
<zorz> erilun06-mobile: never used webkitgtk
<SiFuh> zorz: No, I am going out. Won't be back until after midnight
<zorz> enjoy man!
<zorz> erilun06-mobile: not a hardware issue... its a compile issue.
<erilun06-mobile> zorz: Did you try?
<zorz> there is no way to be a hardware issue for an app sice you run already crux.
<zorz> is something wrong with the build file, dependancies so on.

<zorz> ukky: your crux-musl iso installs wpa_supplicant and firefox ?
<SiFuh> zorz: Watched this today. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025) Snuck in a few beers into the cinema again.
<zorz> i download it
<zorz> and watch zaping
<zorz> not bad
<zorz> zaping meaning speed +4-8
<SiFuh> ukky: https://i.snipboard.io/X0lj4Y.jpg This was leaking. I took off the overly packed teflon tap to see that it had been stripped. They used a brass connector on plastic thread. https://i.snipboard.io/X0lj4Y.jpg
<SiFuh> I will install these pieces https://i.snipboard.io/w1dqlb.jpg and a cut off coupler
<zorz> we broke his balls, me with runit you with plumbing.....
<zorz> hahaha
<SiFuh> zorz: I only did a temporary fix to slow the leak way down. But I had time to go to the shop before the movie starts to buy replacement parts
<zorz> did you have this tom cruise message at the begginig for asian friends?
<SiFuh> I really dislike when plumbers attach brass connectors to PVC threaded pipe. They have special PVC connectors with brass threads
<SiFuh> zorz: I watched it at the cinema
<zorz> yes... it was played in the china cinemas.
<SiFuh> Mine was English, but with Malay and Chiense subtitles. Racist bastards... Where was the English subtitles?
<zorz> sue them
<zorz> and ask for money return
<zorz> :P
<SiFuh> I always bring shooter's ear protection because the cinemas are too loud.
<zorz> why you go at cinema?
<zorz> :P
<zorz> i am goin to sleep for a little..... does ukkys iso installs wpa_supplicant and firefox?
<SiFuh> I don't know about firefox
<zorz> in order to connect to wifi.... i need to login sometimes... anyway... i will do it with mobile hotspot.
<zorz> by for now

<SiFuh> dlcusa: https://i.snipboard.io/wT5IA2.jpg This is pretty much my idea for a USB installer + rescue disk

<SiFuh> ukky: removed eudev and added modprobe e1000e tun /etc/rc.modules and now I have network. Old school.
<SiFuh> Which reminds me. How does mdev start? start_udev are both used by udev and eudev
<SiFuh> /sbin/mdev -s ?
<SiFuh> ukky: This should do it. https://dpaste.com/664RU7FEP.txt
<SiFuh> Hmm /sbin/mdevd is not the same as /sbin/mdev

* ukky needs to catch up
<ukky> SiFuh: mdev has no daemon. Nada. mdev handles hotplug events from kernel, as one time task, then terminates.
<SiFuh> ukky: Yes but I found two mdev. One is mdev and one is mdevd
<SiFuh> So I snuck a check into my code if they are using that as well.
<ukky> I will try to figure out what mdevd is. I do not have it. And my mdev is at /usr/sbin/mdev, but I have my own Pkgfile for busybox and mdev.
<ukky> Yeah, looking at the same location. This is unrelated to mdev. So, it could be fourth option for DEVMGR setting.
<SiFuh> I will need more info on mdev. To see how to implement it or if it should even be. I saw mdev -d and mdev -s
<ukky> Like eudev, mdev requires special init sequence. mdevd might require yet another init sequence.
<zorz> hi ukky
<ukky> Hi zorz
<zorz> ukky tomorow i will install from your iso... thank you very much.
<ukky> SiFuh: I can give you a link to a file, runit script, which brings up system when mdev is being used instead of eudev.
<zorz> 1 question, does it have wpa_supplicant & xorg + firefox available ?
<ukky> My ISO is probably old already.
<SiFuh> ukky: The wife was asking me what is wrong with a brass fitting on a PVC pipe and I was telling her you should never do that. I explained to her why and she asks me if the plumbers know or not here. I said probably know, or they are just lazy.
<SiFuh> ukky: Yes please. This should give me an idea
<ukky> zorz: musl ISO has most xorg tools. No Firefox. And I have to check whether it has wpa_supplicant.
<SiFuh> I don't know anything about it much. When to run it, how to run it... and so on.
<SiFuh> ukky: I didn't see wpa_supplicant
<zorz> hmmm then i cannot install
<zorz> never mind, another time.
<SiFuh> I use wire so I didn't think to look for it.
<zorz> no ethernet here.
<SiFuh> zorz: Just download the archive and build it.
<SiFuh> You can copy it to a USB stick and transfer it across
<zorz> SiFuh: i have in my pocession one laptop and one usb stick
<SiFuh> Does the laptop have a /boot with vfat?
<zorz> i am not to make test drives :P
<zorz> otherwise i will stay without pc for 1 week and you will have piece for one week
<SiFuh> Sometimes I borrow the /boot vfat partition to copy things to before installation of a new system so I can get stuff. But now I have many USB flash drives
<ukky> ls -la <skip>/crux/musl/usr_src_iso_3.8/git/ports/opt/wpa_supplicant/ : -rw-r--r-- 1 pkgmk pkgmk 1175320 Feb 23 22:54 wpa_supplicant#2.11-1.pkg.tar.xz
<SiFuh> Ahhh I didn't install opt
<ukky> zorz: you can just copy tar.xz to USB key and use pkgadd
<SiFuh> Funny how dumb_runtime_dir is in core and wpa_supplicant is in opt.
<ukky> Haha
<zorz> hahahahaa SiFuh stop it
<zorz> yes and how to compile it?
<zorz> for musl
<zorz> its a mess
<SiFuh> ....
<ukky> SiFuh: PVC threads and metal should never be used together. Only PVC-PVC threads. Though I used PE-to-PVC connection.
<ukky> zorz: wpa_supplicant#2.11-1.pkg.tar.xz is already compiled, probably for my musl ISO.
<SiFuh> ukky: 100% agree. NPT brass just shreds PVC
<zorz> is in the iso ?
<ukky> zorz: I will check
<zorz> if iso has wpa_supplicant... i will format
<SiFuh> ....
<ukky> zorz: ls -al /mnt/iso/crux/opt/wpa_supplicant#2.11-1.pkg.tar.xz ===> -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1175320 Feb 24 00:10 /mnt/iso/crux/opt/wpa_supplicant#2.11-1.pkg.tar.xz
<zorz> perfect :P
<zorz> tomorrow i will run opencrux
<zorz> with ksh93u+m
<zorz> oooo zorz found new toy, thank you ukky :P
<zorz> ukky: last question.... runit compiles with musl without patches?
<ukky> zorz: you are welcome.
<ukky> zorz: I did not use runit with musl. You will be pioneer in this field.
<zorz> ukky: you can also join #opencrux
<zorz> ukky: i will do my best
<SiFuh> ukky: A lot of stuff that needs to be injected. I will put that in the todo list
<ukky> SiFuh: Discard stuff unrelated to mdev
<SiFuh> Naturally
