<sicelo> arno11: code search - until it works fully on our forgejo, you can still search on Github. at least I do

<kiva> Should this available for the Open Media Player: http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/decoders-support/
<Wizzup> you can install gstreamer plugins from debian
<Wizzup> sicelo: we have code search now, but yes, now the git grep doesn't work, I will fix it in the forgejo
<kiva> Wizzup: ah..gstreamer was already installed :) it just did not supported streaming .mov (and one of many Quicktime codecs in side it).
<Wizzup> maybe try to find the right gstreamer plugin, and also the tracker might need to be adjusted to index those too

<Wizzup> sicelo: arno11: I think the git grep fallback should work again now
<kiva> It seems that Cinepak and Sorenson codecs with streaming feature are blind spot of modern operating systems..although VLC player help play them offline...anyway I stop here, if somebody wants stream videos with N900 and 2.5G connection try this page: http://www.cornica.org/
<kiva> and make browser that support .mov ;)
<kiva> page works with 90s Macs with Netscape with Quicktime plugin and Dial–up speeds 56kbit/s.
<kiva> ..maybe this was hint for Jib developer..now page works well with it, except on video placeholder shows as backround.

<erebion> Wait, so the No has UART...
<erebion> And I can enable that with 0xFFFF
<erebion> But how do I connect physically to the tiny pads in the SIM slot?
<erebion> Anyone built a plug before?
<erebion> N9
<erebion> typo
<erebion> Anyway, does that work on that one as well?
<sicelo> it does
<erebion> yay
<sicelo> do not the unusual 2.7V !!
<sicelo> *note
<erebion> I've already measured that via the headphone jack, searching for UART
<sicelo> on N9, it's in SIM slot, yes. if you're careful enough, you could use it without even building anything. someone just used cardboard :p
<sicelo> anyhow, i think someone had a design for one
<erebion> I used the TV cable from the N900, the red plug has 2.7 V
<erebion> I don't want to fry it, so no card board
<erebion> Maybe someone at my hackerspace has time to operate the laser with me, never used it myself...
<sicelo> the headphone/tv cable is unrelated to the UART (N900) ... N900's uart is connected almost directly to the SoC
<erebion> For the pogo pins, what is the exact part I have to buy?
<sicelo> that page from sre gives a part number he used
<erebion> yeah, read the schematics, only some coils for galvanic isolation, IIRC
<sicelo> anyway, you can do a lot without N900 uart. what do you need from it?
<erebion> Wait, nope, misrememberd
<erebion> Well, the N9 does no longer boot, I want to find out what's wrong
<erebion> Started when I uninstalled one of the Chinese apps (PRC model) from the UI, that broke it
<sicelo> ah, N9 ... first thing to check is the battery.
<erebion> I noticed the settings app disappeared as well
<erebion> Looks like OS half uninstalled itself
<sicelo> unfortunately N9 knowledge is a bit scant here in general. you can ask on talk.maemo.org (if it's still possible to register an account) :-)
<sicelo> if you're on Telegram, i can give you a group of N9 enthusiasts, and you'll find very knowledgeable people there. at least they helped me get my N9 to the right state
<erebion> Noticed now: Page mentions spring pads are GKS-181 305 080 A 1500 L
<erebion> Cannot find any place to buy the two tiny pads I need -.-
<erebion> Not on Telegram, I'm keeping a distance to it
<sicelo> but remember the N900 uart is unrelated to N9, and as mentioned, for N900 you hardly ever need the uart
<sicelo> unless maybe you're wanting to work on u-boot, e.g. restore upstream support :-)
<sicelo> which i do want to have a look at someday btw
<erebion> Maybe I could even 3d print that part instead of laser or PCB etching
<erebion> Thanks for the links
<sicelo> yw
