<kiedtl> I made something silly
<kiedtl> as an excuse to learn sql and webshit
<kiedtl> I am open to taking this farther though if there's any interest
<kiedtl> Guess it might be helpful, if only for folks who don't want to rebuild firefox all the time
<midfavila> oh that's cool actually
<midfavila> gj kiedtl
<midfavila> :3
<kiedtl> ty ty
<midfavila> bigged brained
* midfavila headpats kiedtl vigorously
<midfavila> and it works in links because sans JS
<midfavila> very nice indeed
<midfavila> hey phoebos look at kiedtl doin' a thing >:O
<kiedtl> :>
<midfavila> i would be willing to set up something on my workstation when it gets here to build packages every time they're updated
<midfavila> then push them to a loap setup on bvnf
<midfavila> i'm out most of the day anyway so those 48t are just kicking it
<kiedtl> neat
<kiedtl> i have some hacked together scripts for uploading stuff
<kiedtl> let me know what packages you can push
<midfavila> have you uploaded loap anywhere?
<midfavila> and it'll unfortunately be a hot minute, my workstation hasn't shipped yet :
<midfavila> c
<midfavila> but after that i can probably just build all of them continuously
<midfavila> i don't pay for my electric anyway, so, meh
<kiedtl> oh yeah no problem
<kiedtl> I'm probably going to take a break from working on this anyway
<kiedtl> it's on github but the scripts aren't anywhere
<midfavila> >RUST
<midfavila> rewrite in c *IMMEDIATELY*
<midfavila> >:CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
<kiedtl> I don't know how to do webshit in C though :(
<midfavila> can use cgi
<midfavila> let's see here...
<kiedtl> I knew leptos (rust web framework thing) from a previous project and just went with it
<kiedtl> not like people need to build the loap server anyway :p
<midfavila> oh this isn't bad
<kiedtl> which part?
<midfavila> the whole thing
<midfavila> less than 1k lines
<kiedtl> huh
<kiedtl> oh
<kiedtl> it's a simple CRUD thing
<midfavila> i bet i could hack something together that uses roff to format stuff
<kiedtl> probably
<kiedtl> roff is atrocious though
<midfavila> you take that BACK
<kiedtl> no
<midfavila> :gun:
<kiedtl> even gemtext is better
<midfavila> you can output html
<midfavila> then again i guess there's probably not a huge reason to involve roff...
<midfavila> i'll have to poke at this
<kiedtl> cheers
<midfavila> going to have to fucking decipher rust
<midfavila> uggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
<midfavila> >:c
<kiedtl> leptos has a huge learning curve unfortunately
<kiedtl> resources, signals, suspenses, etc
<midfavila> oh i don't need to learn anything about that
<kiedtl> lol
<midfavila> i'm just going to see if i can kludge something together to get a similar output from a similar input
<kiedtl> I can send you the db, you can look at the sql schema
<kiedtl> could probably re create the whole thing from just that
<midfavila> might not even need a framework per se
<kiedtl> true
<midfavila> like
<kiedtl> I just reached for whatever was convenient
<kiedtl> i kinda wanted to learn erlang and phoenix
<midfavila> it's just a list of lists on top of a sql database, in the abstract
<kiedtl> yeah
<midfavila> that could be translated directly to html
<midfavila> and then you could interact with it through cgi
<midfavila> ty bby
<kiedtl> yeah it wouldn't be too hard
<kiedtl> hardest part for me was verifying the ssh signatures (since it uses ssh keys for auth)
<kiedtl> I hand-wrote a parser, checked everything, couldn't get it to work
<kiedtl> finally I used a library
<kiedtl> just one of those weird side-problems you encounter at 2 am
<midfavila> i've never done any server-side programming so i wouldn't know
<midfavila> i've barely touched the web at all
<midfavila> aside from my wget/curl replacement that i wrote to half-completion and then dumped because life
<midfavila> still need to get back on that
<midfavila> aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa i wish canada had four-day work weeks so i had time to DO stuff
<midfavila> but instead of investing in labour our new government is replacing the public service with fucking generative AI and somehow finding billions between the couch cushions to reinforce our border against literally nobody
